Vintage Coca-Cola Decor

I've blogged before about how I love vintage Coca-Cola advertising...

Jeremiah and I decided we wanted diner type food on Thursday so we went to a new place (sorry, can't remember what it's called).  We went in and it was full of tons of amazing vintage Coca-Cola decor!  I filmed part of it because it was so awesome and I wanted to show it to my dad :)

Coca Cola Girls

I checked a book out of the library last week called Coca-Cola Girls- An Advertising Art History.  It's stuffed full of beautiful photos of vintage Coca-Cola advertisements with the 'Coca-Cola girls'.  I haven't had a chance to read the book yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

In the meantime I wanted to share some of the vintage ads.  Here's several made for overseas advertising.

Coca-Cola has done some ad campaigns lately mixing vintage with modern.  Here's an example of a Cola-Cola ad with Taylor Swift dressed to look like a Coca-Cola girl.

Another thing they have done is using the actual vintage ads to digitally create a 're-mix'.

I think this is a fun way to integrate history with modern advertising techniques.  I can't wait to see what else they come out with!

Fun Fact- Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola was invented in 1886 by John Pemberton, but it was his bookkeeper Frank Robinson who named the soda and who's script handwriting the classic logo is designed from.


Coca-Cola's first year of sales grossed $50...a $20 loss for the inventor.  It was Permberton selling the
Coca-Cola formula and advertising that saved the soda and made it what it is today.

*If you're wondering...I don't drink Coca-Cola, but find it's history very interesting and have collected several Coca-Cola items, vintage bottles, and fabric over the years :)
